Jeff served on and was the former chair of the Committee on Committees, which oversees the work of more than 50 committees for the New York County Lawyers’ Association (NYCLA), one of the most influential bar associations in the country. He also served on NYCLA’s Board of Directors and, as a former chair of the organization’s Young Lawyers Section, established its highly successful Mentoring Program. He has volunteered as a judge for Yale University’s Invitational Mock Trial competition and judges an annual high school moot court competition on Long Island. Joe Bavaro was selected by two high-ranking judges to serve on important posts-- the Independent Judicial Election Qualification Commission and a select task force to make the Supreme Court more efficient. Joe is past President of theNew York State Academy of Trial Lawyersand a past Chairman of the Nassau Suffolk Trial Lawyers Association, a 60-year old association representing nearly 400 Long Island litigators. Joe is also an adjunct professor at Hofstra Law School, where he teaches Foundational Lawyering Skills.
