Competent but communication could be more consistent

I hired Kelsey Quist at Rutan & Tucker to handle a commercial dispute involving a former business partner. Her background in commercial litigation and her recognition by Best Lawyers in that area gave me confidence in her technical ability, which was justified. She understood the nuances of the contract issues and provided sound legal strategy. However, the experience was mixed on the service side. There were periods where responses to emails took longer than expected, and I sometimes felt I had to follow up to get updates on procedural steps. For a straightforward matter, her four years of experience and education from USF were sufficient, but the client communication felt more reactive than proactive. The matter was resolved adequately, but the process required more diligence on my part to stay informed than I anticipated.
