Competent in complex litigation, but communication could improve

I engaged Ryan Edwards at Taft for a commercial dispute involving a supplier contract. His background in complex litigation, particularly his recognized work in product liability and mass tort defense, was evident in his strategic approach to our case. He clearly understood the nuances of building a strong defense. The outcome was ultimately satisfactory. However, the experience was not without its frustrations. While Ryan is undoubtedly knowledgeable, there were periods where communication was slower than expected, requiring follow-up on my part. At times, I felt I had to piece together updates rather than receiving proactive summaries. For straightforward matters within his recognized expertise, he is a capable attorney. Just be prepared to manage your expectations regarding client communication and the pace of non-urgent updates. His legal competence is solid, but the client service aspect felt merely adequate.
