I engaged Stephen Fuchs at Littler to handle a complex employee termination matter for our small business in New York. The situation involved a departing employee with a potential discrimination claim. Stephen's 11 years of experience and his recognition in Labor Law - Management were evident; his analysis of the risks and the structuring of the separation agreement were thorough and strategically sound. He clearly knows the landscape of New York employment law, and his advice ultimately protected the company. However, the experience was not without its frustrations. While the final work product was good, there were periods during the process where communication lapsed. Responses to emails sometimes took several days, and it was occasionally difficult to get a clear timeline for next steps. For the premium rate, I expected more proactive updates. He is undoubtedly a knowledgeable attorney from a top firm, and I would not hesitate to recommend him for his legal acumen in employment matters. Yet, for clients who prioritize consistent, clear communication and managing expectations throughout a matter, there is room for improvement. The legal outcome was satisfactory, but the client service experience felt merely adequate.
