A capable litigator, but communication could be more consistent

Steve Rummage at Davis Wright Tremaine is clearly a seasoned and respected attorney, as his multiple 'Lawyer of the Year' recognitions in Bet-the-Company Litigation attest. We engaged him for a complex shareholder dispute where the stakes for our business were extremely high. His deep knowledge of Washington law and his 22 years of experience were evident in his strategic approach; he understood the gravity of the situation immediately. However, our experience was mixed. While the legal work was fundamentally sound, we sometimes experienced delays in receiving updates and found his communication style to be less proactive than we had hoped. Responses to emails could take several days, which was stressful given the nature of the case. He is undoubtedly a competent and formidable litigator who achieved an acceptable outcome, but the process required more client management on our end than expected for a firm of this caliber.
